Winterthur Museum celebrates 1995 as 'Year of the Garden'

Winterthur Museum is celebrating 1995 as the "The Year of the
Garden." In keeping with this theme, the museum, 900 acres of
naturally landscaped woodland, meadow and flower gardens, has
scheduled a number of special events and educational activities for
all ages.
One of the highlights is an exhibition, "Romancing the Land:
Portrait of the Winterthur Garden," which will run from March 5-Aug. 6
at the museum's Thomas A. Graves Jr. Gallery.
A recently published book, The Winterthur Garden: Henry Francis
du Pont's Romance with the Land, by Denise Magnani, museum curator and
director of landscape, complements the exhibition.
All admission tickets to the museum include garden tram rides and
self-guided tours. From March 15 through June, guided walking tours
will be offered on weekends and Wednesdays.
Other special events during the year will include lectures,
family activities, teacher workshops and photography workshops, all
with a garden theme.
