Performance appraisal forms get high marks by employees

During 1994, the University introduced a new performance
appraisal form for salaried staff evaluations that closely resembles
the form piloted for professional staff members last year. The new
form provides users an opportunity to focus more on accomplishments of
the past year and to plan for future skill and development.
Fourteen classes, involving more than 500 staff members, were
held to introduce the new form to University employees. Classes were
conducted for general audiences as well as for individual units.
Participants said they were pleased with the introductory classes, and
they provided the Office of Employee Relations with supportive
comments regarding the ease of use of the new form. Employees who were
unable to attend these classes during the past year should make plans
to participate in the next session, which is scheduled for early
February 1995.
