D. Michael Kuhlman, psychology, was an invited lecturer at Summer
School for Graduate Students, European Association of
Experimental Social Psychology, July 22-Aug. 10, Poland.
Ivar Stakgold, mathematical sciences, appointed director of the
American Mathematical Society's Washington, D.C., office, serving
as liaison to Congress, federal agencies, National Academy of
Science, the National Research Council and other professional
societies. He will divide his time between Newark and Washington.
Rene Coulet du Gard, foreign languages and literatures, retired,
has his book, Life and Death of the North American Indians, on
the best seller list in France and a second edition was issued in
1994 by Editions France-Empire, Paris. The title is part of a six-
volume series titled Americana.
Marvin B. Sussman, professor emeritus, individual and family
studies, was honored as former president of Society for the Study
of Social Problems at its meeting, Aug. 4-10, Los Angeles. He
also served as a discussant at a session on generational
relationships and kin support at American Sociological
Association meeting.
