Consort in concert tonight

Tickets are still available to a concert tonight that will pay
special tribute to two University professors who died last year.
The program-at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Hall-will feature the Consort
of Musicke, an English quartet performing music from the Renaissance.
The concert is dedicated to the memory of Thomas Calhoun, who taught
in the Department of English, and Robert King, who taught in the
Department of Music.
During their lives, the professors worked together compiling,
researching and reconstructing songs written by popular musicians of
the 17th century to the poetry of Abraham Cowley.
A collection of these songs, entitled The Mistress, was recorded
last year by the consort. Tonight, the consort, which features
acclaimed vocalist Emma Kirkby, will perform excerpts from The
Mistress, as well as other works.
The concert is part of the University's Performing Arts Series.
Tickets may be reserved by calling the Hartshorn box office at 831-
2204.
