Memorial fund established

     Gifts for scholarships are being accepted by the University of
Delaware to honor the memory of sophomore Jennifer Joy Loomis, who was
killed in an automobile accident Jan. 13.
     Known as Jen to her friends, she was the daughter of Michael and
Gwen Loomis of Allentown, Pa. A student in the University Honors
Program and a National Merit Scholar, Miss Loomis was killed in an
automobile accident near Allentown when, during a thick fog, her car
collided with a tractor trailer and then veered into a van.
     Her fiance, Eric Scott Makovsky, was a passenger in the car and
is recovering from injuries from the accident.
     Miss Loomis, a biotechnology major whose goal was medical
research, was on the Dean's List every semester and was recently
inducted into Beta Beta Beta, the national biology honors fraternity.
     Contributions in memory of Miss Loomis may be sent to the
attention of Joseph Bradley, University of Delaware Development
Office, Newark, DE 19716-0701. Checks should be made payable to the
University of Delaware, specifying on the memo line or in a note that
the gift is in memory of Jennifer Joy Loomis.
