Main Street parking garage scheduled to open Monday

     The new University parking garage, at the west end of Main
Street, is tentatively scheduled to open at 7 a.m., Monday, Feb. 6. It
will offer both gate-controlled parking for employees-at the current
rate of $350 per year-and a pay-to-park rate for employees, students
and visitors.
     Hours of operation are 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Mondays-Fridays, at 50
cents per half hour or any part thereof; and 6-11 p.m., Mondays-
Fridays, at 25 cents per half hour, or any part thereof, to a maximum
of $2 for the evening. There will be no overnight parking.
     Initially, the garage will be closed Saturdays and Sundays,
except during special University events.
     However, weekend hours will be adjusted as needed, and the garage
is scheduled to be open during weekends when the new student center is
completed.
     The garage will have approximately 575 spaces. Visitor parking
passes will no longer be valid for Lot 19 on North College Avenue.
