Popular program offers employees Career Development Certificate

     The Office of Employee Relations is pleased to announce the
continuation of the certificate program of informational seminars on
career enhancement strategies specifically designed for University
salaried staff members.
     The program encompasses a wide variety of seminars targeted to
specific areas of career development. The series is coordinated by
staff from Employee Services. Guest speakers from other units provide
information at some of the seminars.
     The series kicks off with an "Introduction to Career Planning."
The seminar focuses attention on the skill assessment process and
tools for career planning. The second program provides instruction in
"Resume Writing," a building block for planning career moves.
     In the third segment of the series, the reclassification process
at the University is reviewed. Examining the form used as well as the
elements of the reclassification audit will be covered. Program four
affords participants the opportunity to learn more about the vast
array of educational benefits available at the University and the
process for enrollment in credit and non-credit classes, as well as
development programs offered by units in the Office of Employee
Relations and Computing and Network Services (CNS).
     A review of the employment process at the University and
interviewing tips is the focus of the fifth seminar. The series
concludes with a goal-setting process for ensuring career plans are
implemented. Participants also learn about the services available to
salaried staff through the Career Resource Center.
     Each of the six seminars are approximately 90 minutes in length
presented from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m..
     Enrollment is limited to a small number to assure individual
attention.
