Diversity, conflict-management sessions set
A series of workshops on "Welcoming and Appreciating Diversity"
and "Conflict Management: Finding the Common Ground" are being offered
during the next several months.
The diversity workshops are scheduled 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Feb.

p.m., March 15; 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., March 18; and 8:30 a.m.-noon, April
14 and 29 and May 9.
These sessions show how to identify misinformation about
ourselves and others, how to heal emotional wounds resulting from
mistreatment and how to reclaim the power to challenge all forms of
discrimination. All sessions will be conducted in the Perkins Student
Center.
The conflict management sessions, planned from 8:30 a.m.-4:30
p.m., Feb. 16, March 28 and April 7, are also in the Perkins Student
Center.
These workshops offer information on finding common ground,
dealing with difficult people and handling confrontational situations.
The principles may be applied to a traditional office work setting,
but they also are appropriate for faculty and teaching assistants who
are involved in group projects in the classroom.
These management sessions will demonstrate ways to teach students
to resolve conflicts within their project groups and handle
controversial issues.
