DGS on Internet
     The Delaware Geological Survey (DGS) list of publications is now
available through the University's Internet Gopher service.
     Access is via UD department, program and college information
services on the University Gopher main menu.
     Requests for publications for any geologic, hydrologic and
cartographic information can be made via e-mail to DGS@mvs.udel.edu.
     Users also can request information about the DGS, its staff
members and how to order publications. The list is updated at the end
of each fiscal year.


Grief support
     A two-session grief support group program will be held from 8:30-
noon, on Mondays, Jan. 9 and 23, in the Read Room of the Perkins
Student Center.
     Linda Wills, a bereavement counselor from Hospice of Delaware
Inc., will be the facilitator during the confidential, group-directed
programs. The sessions, focusing on the grieving process, will offer
participants an opportunity to share and receive support from others
who have had similar experiences.
     The program is free for University employees. Lunch is provided,
and registration is required. Call Darlene Sharp at 831-8308.


Stop smoking
     The Employee Wellness Center will offer two smoking cessation
workshops beginning later this month and in February. Each of the six-
session workshops will be led by a registered nurse from the Medical
Center of Delaware. Follow-up components, addressing maintenance of
weight after smoking cessation and designing an exercise program to
meet participant needs, will be offered by the University's Employee
Wellness Center.
     Workshop I will be held from 5-6 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays,
Jan. 10, 12, 17, 19, 24 and 26 in 122 Sharp Laboratory.
     Workshop II will be offered at the same time Mondays and
Wednesdays, Feb. 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and March 1 in 118 Sharp
Laboratory.
     In addition to these sessions, a follow-up meeting-with the date
and time to be scheduled at the convenience of the participants-will
occur about a month after the workshop.
     The workshop fee is $50, with $25 paid by the employee and $25
from UD Wellness Dollars.

Graduate buffet
     Graduates and families are invited to celebrate at the Blue &
Gold Club's Winter Commencement Buffet, from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Jan.
7.
     The menu will feature steamship round of beef, smoked ham,
stuffed flounder, spinach salad, Caesar salad, a choice of delectable
desserts and more. The cost, including service charge, is $14.95 for
adults; $7.95 for children 5 to 7, and free for children under 5.
     The buffet is open to members and non-members. For reservations,
call UD1-CLUB.


Summer internship
     The Department of Housing and Conference Services is offering an
internship in conference management for 13 weeks- approximately 450
hours-from June 5-Aug. 11. Some weekend work is required. The pay rate
is $5.25 per hour, plus overtime.

deadline date is Feb. 28.


Awards deadline
     Information on the Center for Advanced Study awards is available
from the offices of college deans and department chairpersons. The
deadline for applications is Feb. 18.
