SERVICE AND AWARDS

     Ron Martin, geology, appointed associate editor of Journal of
     Foraminiferal Research.

     Robert R. Jordan, Delaware Geological Survey, will chair the
     Subcommittee on the Oil Pollution Action 1990 for the Outer
     Continental Shelf Policy Committtee, Department of the Interior.

     Vic Klemas, Center for Remote Sensing, served as invited panel
     member, White House Conference on Environmental Technology, Dec.
     12-14, Washington, D.C.

     Robert B. Carroll and Allen L. Morehart, plant and soil sciences,
     surveyed diseases associated with potato production as guests of
     the Moroccan government, Oct. 14-28. They traveled more than
     3,200 miles, meeting with the minister of plant protection, the
     director of the Institute of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine
     and faculty of University of Morocco campuses in Rabat and
     Agadir.

     M. Jo Kallal, textiles, design and consumer economics, received
     the Best Solution to a Problem Award at the International Textile
     and Apparel Association competition for her design entitled
     "Diagonal Cut." Inspired by two novelty wool crepe fabrics, the
     dress and bolero-like jacket feature Vionnet's bias cut, a
     gusseted kimono sleeve and minimal understructure.

     Alden "Whitey" Burnham, former Delaware men's soccer coach, was
     recently selected to the Hall of Fame, National Soccer Coaches
     Association of America. Burnham, who also served as the Blue Hen
     wrestling head coach from 1949-60, coached three honorable
     mention All-Americans while at Delaware.

     Sgt. Gerald Barber, military science, received the Army
     Achievement Medal on Dec. 14 for many overtime hours spent as the
     supply sergeant for the Army ROTC program here.
