Group learning workshop in January

     Students Teaching Students: The Power of Group Learning" is the
topic of a two-day workshop offered by the Center for Teaching
Effectiveness from 9 a.m.-noon and 1:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19,
and from 9 a.m.-noon, Friday, Jan. 20, in the Rodney Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
     The workshop will demonstrate problem-based learning (PBL), which
helps students develop the ability to think critically, analyze
problems and find and use appropriate learning resources. Participants
will work through a "real-world" problem for two days to experience
this technique, and a facilitator will demonstrate how to adapt PBL in
the classroom. Thursday afternoon, students who have taken a PBL class
will discuss PBL. To register, send name, department, e-mail address
and phone number to Virginia. Greene@MVS.udel.edu. at least one week
before the workshop.
