     Jeanne Walker, English, won the Arlene R. and William P. Lewis
     Playwriting Award for her play Pheenie.

     Mary Ann Hitchens and Barbara Viera, athletics, were presented
     plaques recognizing outstanding contributions to the promotion of
     athletics for females of all ages in Delaware at a Nov. 13
     ceremony in Wilmington. The awards were presented by the Delaware
     Women's Alliance for Sport and Fitness.

     Ramiro Martinez Jr., sociology and criminal justice, was
     appointed to the Delaware Council on Corrections by Gov. Thomas
     R. Carper.

     Robert Knecht, marine studies, was invited by the International
     Oceanographic Commission to participate in an international
     workshop on coastal management in Karachi, Pakistan, in October.
