Campus United Way campaign surpasses goal

     The University of Delaware United Way campaign has gone over the
top, raising $172,152.13, which is $22,152.13 over the $150,000 goal,
President David P. Roselle announced at a Nov. 22 thank-you reception
at the president's house for solicitors and others involved with the
campaign.
     Joyce Dennis, Employee Services, and Deborah Dintenfass, Benefits
Services, co-chaired the campaign.
     The Pacesetters campaign, which involved solicitation of
approximately 75 administrators, totaled $28,082; a campaign for
retirees of the University netted $3,325; and the Inter-Fraternity
Council, the Panhellenic Council and the Order of Omega Psi Phi
contributed $2,144.25 toward the campus goal.
     The following recipients of incentive awards were announced at
the event:
       Ronald Wenger, mathematical sciences, $800 towards a trip;
       Nancy Hall, Parallel Program, Georgetown, New York City trip;
       David Saunders, computer science, Virden Center weekend;
       Rebecca Melvin, library, dinner at the Blue & Gold Club;
       Keith Handling, physical education, and James Flynn, urban
          affairs and public policy, one year memberships to the Blue
          & Gold Club;
       Wallace Pill, plant and soil sciences, $25 in UD Dining Flex
          Dollars;
       Winifred Harris, Employee Services, A Taste of Brandywine
          membership;
       Michael McClay, academic services, and Kimberly Trescott,
          admissions, linen service at Carpenter Sports Building;
       Richard Magnuson, Student Health Services, one-year pool
          membership;
       Betty Chenoweth, Occupational Health and Safety, ice skating
          arena passes;
       Teresa Delia Volpe, life and health sciences, and Ann Powell,
          international programs and special sessions, UD afghans;
       Frances Mullen, agricultural engineering, and Larry Marvel,
          student housing, UD sweatshirts;
       Leo Korolyk, financial aid, and Israel Brown, student housing,
          tickets for performances at the Bob Carpenter Center;
       Linda Wilson, education, Professional Theatre Training Program
          season tickets for two;
       Susan Holland, library, 8"x10" color photograph taken by the
          Office of Public Relations;
       Vernese Edghill, Center for Black Culture, Gold parking permit
          for 1995-96 or equivalent credit;
       Charles Ih, electrical engineering, family membership to
          Delaware Nature Center;
       Linda Beatty, student housing, oil painting by Grayce
          Hendrickson, Accounts Payable;
       Robert Keown, food science, and David Onn, physics and
          astronomy, Winterthur Yuletide Tour tickets;
       Michael Rosenberg, Parallel Program, Wilmington, Longwood
          Gardens Christmas Extravaganza passes;
       Jane Gilbert, counseling and student development, week at 4-H
          camp for one child; and
       Azar Parvizi, mechanical engineering, and Elizabeth Lieux,
          nutrition and dietetics, 4-H cookbooks.
