Honors housing making move
Beginning next fall, freshmen in the University Honors Program
will be housed in Russell A, B, C and D, instead of Dickinson
residence halls, to ensure that the program is fully accessible to
students with disabilities.
The Russell residence halls also will house freshmen who are not
in the honors program, as will the Dickinson complex.
Russell D and E are more accessible residence halls on the East
Campus, featuring entrance ramps; first-floor electronically-operated
door openers, which can be activated by a wheelchair-mounted device;
accessible first-floor bathrooms; and strobe lights, which are
activated in rooms and halls when the fire alarm sounds.
Upperclass honors housing also is expanding to include an
accessible location for students with disabilities. The first floor of
Ray C, which can accommodate 18 students, will be reserved for
upperclass honors housing, joining designated floors in Brown/Sypherd
and Harter/Sharp residence halls.
