Chou lectures in China, awarded honor by hosts

Tsu-Wei Chou, Jerzy L. Nowinski Professor of Mechanical
Engineering, recently traveled to China at the invitation of the
United Nations Development Program to deliver lectures on fiber
composite materials at the Chinese Ministry of Aerospace Industry and
the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA).
At BUAA, Chou, a resident of Hockessin, was awarded an honorary
professorship.
BUAA, established in 1952, is China's first comprehensive
university of aeronautical and astronautical science and technology.
Graduate programs are carried out at its 16 department-affiliated
research institutes and 122 interdisciplinary research centers.
Fiber composites research is conducted at the Research Institute
of Solid Mechanics and Research Center of Composite Materials. BUAA
has established cooperative programs with more than 30 well-known
universities and institutes around the world.
"The honor I received from BUAA speaks for the recognition of our
accomplishment in fiber composites at the University of Delaware by
Chinese researchers," Chou said.
