Smokeout today
Today is the annual Great American Smokeout. On this day, smokers
across the nation are encouraged to try to kick the habit by
refraining from smoking for 24 hours.
Information on upcoming stop-smoking programs at the University
will be listed in UpDate. For more information and/or literature, call
the Employee Wellness Center at 831-8388.
Superfund program
A one-day workshop designed to educate the public on the state of
Delaware Superfund process will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday,
Dec. 8, in Clayton Hall.
Cost is $45 and includes workshop materials, lunch and a copy of
the Hazardous Substance Cleanup Act.

Behavior discussion
Willie Mac Lewis, executive director of the Institute of
Psychological Services, will talk to parents of students in the
College School on how oppositional behaviors can be managed at 7 p.m.,
Tuesday, Dec. 6, in 311 Willard Hall Education Building. The event is
free and open to the public.
Rentals available
There are rental units available for University employees,
including a three-bedroom, two-bath, fully furnished house at 198
Orchard Rd. for $910 per month and a five-bedroom, three-bath,
unfurnished house at 219 West Main St. at $950 per month.

Morris Library hours for Nov. 23-27, are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.,
Wednesday, Nov. 23; closed, Thursday - Saturday, Nov. 24-26; 11 a.m.-

Special Collections and Exhibition Gallery will be open from 8
a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, and closed Thursday- Sunday, Nov. 24-
27.

'Elegance' Dec. 2
The Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity presents its annual Alpha Ball,
"An Evening of Black and Gold Elegance," from 6 p.m.-2 a.m., Friday,
Dec. 2, at the Ramada Inn on Route 13 in New Castle. The ball features
dancing, live entertainment and food.

Proposals for creating special interest housing that allows
students to combine classroom knowledge with participation in an
interest specific community are now available at the Residence Life
Office at 5 Courtney St., or by calling 831-4311. The deadline is Nov.

PT career day
Recruiters from rehabilitation centers and hospitals will be
available to speak with students and others interested in careers in
physical therapy from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, in the Rodney
Room of the Perkins Student Center. For more information, call Career

Garden line open
The New Castle County Delaware Cooperative Extension's Garden
Line phone service is open for calls ON TUESDAYS ONLY FROM 9 A.M.-
NOON, at 831-8862. A master gardener volunteer will answer home lawn,
garden and pest questions.
Calls will not be able to be returned during this winter
schedule.
Trustees to meet
The University of Delaware Board of Trustees will meet at 3 p.m.,
Tuesday, Dec. 13, in 120 Clayton Hall. The meeting is open to the
public.
Blue & Gold buffet
The Blue and Gold Club will offer a breakfast buffet before the
final home football game this Saturday from 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The
club also offers catering for tailgates and a happy hour in the Tavern
after the game.

Gardeners wanted
Cooperative Extension is looking for experienced gardeners to
apply for master gardener training. Volunteers will get training in
horticulture in exchange for helping extension service agents with
school gardening projects, homeowner workshops and answering questions
by telephone. Application deadline is Dec. 31. Training begins in
February.

Delaware Cooperative Extension master foods educator volunteers
will staff a holiday foods hotline-at 831-1239-to answer questions
about the safe handling of holiday foods, from noon-4 p.m., Monday and
