Chase Manhattan Bank supports Fortune 2000
Chase Manhattan Bank (USA) recently contributed $100,000 to the
University's Fortune 2000 Program.
Administered in the College of Business and Economics, Fortune
2000 provides comprehensive support services for pre-college and
college minority business students. Academic and career-related
assistance as well as motivational activities to ensure successful
matriculation, graduation and career placement are all part of the
program.
The Chase contribution, which will be allotted over a four-year
period, classifies the institution as a Fortune 2000 partner.
Chase's annual $25,000 contribution will be used to help defray
expenses in the following areas:
* Chase Manhattan/FORTUNE 2000 Scholarships-$15,000 will be
allotted annually for scholarships. Scholarship recipients
will have the opportunity to intern with Chase Manhattan
Bank.
* Summer Academic Bridge Program-$5,000 will be allotted
annually to help defray costs in this five-week summer
residential academic program for African American, Hispanic
and Native American Indian students who have been accepted
into the College of Business and Economics. The program,
designed to assist students in making a successful
transition to the University, includes college survival and
academic skill building workshops as well as business career
exploration sessions.
* Pre-College Business Program- $5,000 will be allotted each
year to help defray costs in this year-round pre-college
academic enrichment and career development program for 9th
through 12th graders who are African American, Hispanic or
Native American and wish to pursue careers in business.
* Summer internships and part-time jobs-Minority students
participating in FORTUNE 2000 programs will have the
opportunity to be interviewed for summer internships and
part-time positions at Chase Manhattan Bank (USA).
