2nd Jumper Classic on Oct. 2

     Horses and riders from across the country are expected to
participate in the University of Delaware's second annual Jumper
Classic, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 2, on the grounds of Laurel Hall.
      Featured events include the $5,000 Junior-Amateur Jumper
Classic, a National Grand Prix League (NGL) /Sprint Junior-Amateur
event, a special exhibition, planned for 1 p.m., and the $25,000
University of Delaware Grand Prix/Rolex/NGL event, which gets under
way at 1:30 p.m.
     Also at this year's Jumper Classic, a drawing will be held for a
drover coat, donated by Chick's tack shop in Harrington. Register to
win at Chick's.
     The Jumper Classic is part of a series of show jumping events
sanctioned by the National Grand Prix League.
     Tickets are $8 for general admission and $5 for students and
senior citizens. Reserved ringside seating, which must be purchased in
advance, is available for $100 a seat. Tables, which seat eight, may
be reserved in advance for $600. Both tables and reserved seating
include lunch.
     Proceeds from the Jumper Classic will benefit the University's
Intercollegiate Athletics Program.
     Honorary chairs of the University's event are D.D. and Michael
Matz. Cochairs are Sydney Lindley and Laurie Jakubauskas. Other
committee members are Allan Griffiths, Louise Roselle and Missy
Veghte.
