Health profile
In an effort to develop a wellness program specifically designed for
its employees, the University invites all employees to have a health
profile completed. This profile includes filling out a short questionnaire
and having blood pressure, body composition and cholesterol measured free
of charge at one of three sites on campus.
Based on this information, each employee will receive an immediate
computerized report that may be discussed with a counselor. In addition,
there will be free handouts on health-related topics.

Furniture sale
The Department of Housing and Residence Life will sell approximately
120 pieces of surplus furniture from 3-6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Nov.
3 and 4, in the housing warehouse next to the Grounds Department, which is
located behind and across the railroad tracks from the Deer Park Tavern.
The parking lot may be entered from either Cleveland or North College
avenues.
For sale will be 80 oak student desks, with three drawers, bookshelf
and light, in very good condition, $35 each; and 40 laminated student
dressers, with five drawers, $10 each.
More surplus items may be added. The terms of sale are cash and carry,
first-come, first-served, with same day removal. For more information, call

Stop smoking tips
A stop smoking program, "The Butt Stops Here," is being offered by the
Faculty/Staff Assistance Program. A speaker from the American Cancer
Society will discuss the dangers of smoking and offer methods to help
individuals who wish to quit smoking from 12:10-1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 3,
in the Collins Room of the Perkins Student Center.
Registration is required by Monday, Nov. 1, and may be made by sending

Thanksgiving brunch
The Blue and Gold Club will hold its monthly Sunday brunch from 10:30
a.m.-2:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, in the Main Dining Room. The menu will
include carved turkey breast, stuffing, Pasta Aurora (shrimp and scallops
over linguini), carved leg of lamb, beef tips with burgundy sauce, flounder
dijionnaise, eggs benedict, waffles, bacon and sausage, assorted bagels and
pastries, desserts and a complimentary glass of sparkling white wine.
The cost of the brunch is $15.95 for adults and $7.95 for children,
ages 5 to 11. Children under 5 are free.
Club membership is required. All University members are eligible.
First-time members receive a $10 discounts on their first year's dues.

Book borrowing
The University of Delaware participates in the Reciprocal Faculty
Borrowing Program, which provides faculty members with borrowing privileges
and on-site access to the collections of various research libraries in
North America.

SOS membership
The Sexual Offense Support Group (SOS), a Student Health
Service-sponsored group of volunteers from the University community who
provide support for victims/survivors, is accepting applications for
membership.
Membership is open to any interested University student, faculty or
staff member, both men and women. Expertise in the area of sexual assault
is not a requirement, however, an understanding attitude is.

Halloween spirits
University Dining Services will sponsor "Halloween Spirits," featuring
Steven Wallach, a Philadelphia-area magician, who will entertain cutsomers
from noon-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, in the common dining area
of the Scrounge and Center Court. Wallach will stroll and entertain before
and after the Homecoming pep rally.
Diversity workshops
The Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural Diversity has scheduled
one-day "Welcoming Diversity" workshops this fall for all members of the
University community-faculty, staff and students.
The workshops are designed to help participants understand and deal
with various forms of discrimination and to bring the campus closer to
achieving a community where dialog and discourse are the dictates of the
day.
Diversity workshops are set for Thursday, Nov. 4, and Friday, Dec. 3,
in room 117 of the Pencader Complex. There is no charge.
