Honors director receives award

     The Delaware Humanities Council Alumni Association presented its
Joseph P. del Tufo Award for distinguished service to the humanities to
Robert F. Brown, professor of philosophy and director of the University
Honors Program, in an awards program and reception Sunday, Oct. 24, at
Buena Vista Conference Center in New Castle.
     The Del Tufo award is designated for Delaware citizens who have been
instrumental in fostering public understanding and appreciation of the
humanities in Delaware.
     Brown, a faculty member since 1970, is an authority on the philosophy
of religion and Hegelian philosophy.  He has served as chairperson and vice
chairperson for the Delaware Humanities Council. In addition, he is the
recipient of a Danforth Fellowship and two major grants from National
Endowment for the Humanities.
