Health profile
     In an effort to develop a wellness program specifically designed for
its employees, the University invites all employees to have a health
profile completed. This profile includes filling out a short questionnaire
and having blood pressure, body composition and cholesterol measured free
of charge at one of three sites on campus. Based on this information, each
employee will receive an immediate computerized report that may be
discussed with a counselor. In addition, there will be free handouts on
health-related topics.

B&G seniors night
     The Blue and Gold Club offers a special dinner to senior citizens from
4:30-6 p.m., Thursdays.
     This three-course meal includes soup or salad, warm rolls, choice of
three entrees, sherbet or ice cream and coffee or tea for only $10,
including the 12 percent service charge.
     Club membership is required. All University employees are eligible.
First-time members receive a $10 discount on their first year's dues.

U-DEL celebration
     The U-DEL Federal Credit Union invites members of the University
community to attend its 25th anniversary celebration from 12:30-2 p.m.,
Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 417 Academy St. The first 200 guests will receive a
commemorative gift.

College fair Oct. 16
     The National Society of Black Engineers will sponsor a college fair
for high school students in the Wilmington area from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.,
Saturday, Oct. 16, in the William Anderson Community Center at the corner
of Fifth and Madison streets in Wilmington.

Diversity workshops
     The Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural Diversity has scheduled
one-day "Welcoming Diversity" workshops this fall for members of the
University community--faculty, staff and students.
     The workshops help participants understand and deal with various forms
of discrimination and further the goal of the commission, namely, to bring
the campus closer to achieving a community where dialog and discourse are
the dictates of the day.
     Diversity workshops are set for Monday, Oct. 25; Thursday, Nov. 4; and
Friday, Dec. 3, in Room 117 of the Pencader Complex. There is no charge.

Telephone renewals
     A new, automated book renewal service is available for users of the
Morris Library. Using a touch-tone telephone, users may call the regular
book renewal line, 831-1638 where a recorded message will give
instructions.
     The system will then inform the user whether the book was successfully
renewed and its new due date.
     The service is available at all hours that DELCAT is now available.
For information about hours, type "news" in DELCAT.
     The new service is for books from the Morris Library only. Material
from the branch libraries, the reserve room and the secured area may not be
renewed by telephone.
     The service is a joint project of the University Library and Computing
and Network Services, with cooperation from the Registrar's Office.

Health, fitness tour
     The 1993 Jeep/Eagle Collegiate Health and Fitness Tour will visit the
University from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 25-26.
     The University is one of 25 universities nationwide selected to host
the traveling exposition. The two-day event will feature free games,
sweepstakes and activities promoting "Natural Highs" and healthy campus
lifestyles. Students will have the opportunity to win pagers, Nabisco
snacks, caps, sunglasses and a grand prize Jeep.

Newark at night
     The Newark Arts Alliance will sponsor "Downtown with the Arts," a
community festival of arts and crafts beginning at 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15.
This month's festival will include a coffeehouse evening at Treats.

Open hearing
     The University Faculty Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies will
hold an open hearing to discuss the granting of permanent status to the
Engineering Technology Program at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Room 112
McDowell Hall.
