Track scholar honored by GTE

     Travis Adams, a senior in the College of Arts and Science, has
been selected as a member of  the 1993-94 GTE Academic All-American
Men's At-Large Second Team.
     Team members are selected by the College Sports Information
Directors of America, based on superior athletic and academic
achievements.
     Adams, whose specialty is track and cross country, has maintained
a 3.92 grade point average and is studying chemistry and physics.
     According to Charles R. Lee, chairperson and chief executive
officer of GTE, in his letter to Adams, this "honor recognizes you as
a member of an elite group of collegiate student-athletes who have
mastered the balance between academics and athletics."
