WDEL wins contract to air sporting events

     Fightin' Blue Hens football, baseball and basketball fans will be
able to hear their favorite team's games aired live on WDEL 1150 AM
for a five-year period beginning this fall.
     Edgar N. Johnson, director of athletics, announced the agreement
with Delmarva Broadcasting Company, which has purchased the commercial
radio broadcast rights through the spring of 1999. The company has
held radio rights to University athletic contests for the past 14
years.
     The contract value, including rights, fees and promotional items
will exceed $800,000 over the five-year period.
