Program offers matching funds for campus research equipment

The Office of the Vice Provost for Research is continuing of its
program to provide matching funds for the purchase of research
equipment.
Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded for proposed purchases
that meet one of the following criteria:
        * Matching funds of at least 50 percent of the total cost of
equipment will be provided by a corporation, foundation or
          some other source outside the University;
        * A federal agency or other funding source has notified the
grant applicant that funding of a proposal is contingent on
the availability of particular equipment. The amount of the
external grant must be equal to or greater than the cost of
          the equipment; or
        * It can be demonstrated that the equipment purchase will make
a research proposal to an outside organization more
competitive. The amount of the prospective external grant
for the proposed project must be equal to or greater than
          the cost of the equipment.
A one to one match is the minimum requirement. Equally
meritorious proposals with higher ratios of outside matching funds
will be given priority.
To apply for a matching grant for equipment, submit a brief
proposal to the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, incorporating
the need and proposed use for the equipment in the context of the
research to be performed, significance of the research, potential
sources of matching funds and the current price of the equipment.
Proposals will be accepted from all disciplines. Preference will
be given to requests for equipment that will support research in more
than one department or discipline.
