Faculty Spotlight summer series to end with talk on Hitchcock

     The University's Faculty Spotlight Series, highlighting
professors and their books, will conclude Wednesday, July 20, when
Thomas Leitch, professor of English, talks about his book, Find the
Director and Other Hitchcock Games.
     The talk, free and open to the public, will be held at 2 p.m. in
the Kirkwood Room of the Perkins Student Center. A reception and book
signing will follow.
     Leitch, director of the film studies program at the University,
is well known for his lectures on topics related to modern films and
fiction. Recent local talks have included "Not Just Another Who Dunit:
Disavowal as Evolution in Detective Fiction" for the Popular Culture
Association and "What's So Funny? Problems in Defining Comedy" for the
Delaware Theatre Company.
     He has published three books and numerous articles and since 1993
has served as the mystery editor for Kirkus Reviews. Additionally,
Leitch reviewed films for several local radio stations from 1992-93.
     A Fulbright lecturer at Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 1989-
90, Leitch has received numerous awards from Yale University, where he
received his doctorate in English in 1976.
     He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in English
and comparative literature from Columbia College in 1972.
     Leitch joined the University of Delaware faculty in 1983.
