Agriculture dean named fellow
John C. Nye, dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and
director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Water Resources
Center, has been elected a fellow of the American Society of
Agricultural Engineers (ASAE). He was honored at the June ASAE
international meeting in Kansas City, Mo.
Elected annually by ASAE's board of directors, fellows are chosen
for unusual professional distinction and extraordinary qualifications
and must have a minimum of 20 years of active practice of engineering
or teaching of engineering. Selection as a fellow-the highest
distinction an ASAE member can achieve-is earned by only about 2
percent of the society's 9,000 members.
A member of ASAE since 1973, Nye was honored for his excellence
in agricultural engineering teaching and research, his academic
administration and his service to his profession. He is known
internationally for his research in agricultural waste management.
Nye currently serves on the Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology board of directors and is a past member of its
Engineering Accreditation Commission. He has chaired the executive and
steering committee of the ASAE Structures and Environment Division and
the Indiana and Louisiana sections, and he has served on several other
ASAE committees.
