College co-sponsors cruise
What better place to have a conference about the future of the
Delaware River than on the river itself? That was the concept of
"Charting the Course Ahead," the Delaware River conference cruise held
aboard the Cape May/Lewes ferryboat M.F. Delaware on June 20,
sponsored in part by the University's College of Marine Studies.
Presented by the Delaware Public Policy Institute, a non-profit,
non-partisan organization, the conference provided an opportunity for
scholars, conservationists and representatives of government,
commerce, labor and industry to learn about the Delaware River and to
discuss and share views about its future.
President David P. Roselle moderated the first session of the
conference, entitled The Delaware, Yesterday and Today. Jonathan
Sharp, of the Delaware Estuary Program and professor of marine
studies, was a presenter during the session, giving an environmental
and historical overview of the river.
