Bell Atlantic to provide University PC maintenance
Bell Atlantic Business Systems Services (BABSS) has been awarded
a three year contract to provide PC maintenance services at the
University, beginning July 1, Tory Windley, director of purchasing,
announced today.
Out of a field of seven vendors, BABSS submitted the most
competively priced bid.
This agreement replaces one previously held with the Digital
Equipment Corp. (also known on campus as DECTOPS), she said.
Approximately 117 University departments will be affected by the
change in vendors.
Prices will remain approximately the same as they were in the
previous contract.
Each department will soon receive a renewal notice that includes
a list of its equipment currently covered under the existing contract,
Windley said, and these notices should be completed and re turned to
BABSS before July 1.
In addition, departments that do not currently have equipment
under contract also can expect to receive information from Bell
Atlantic.
BABSS will continue on-site maintenance and will be located at
324 Wyoming Rd. after July 1. Similar services will be available at
all University campuses.
The phone number for BABSS will be announced in the June 23
UpDate. Upcoming issues of TechTalk in UpDate will feature further
details on desktop computer maintenance.
