Contract approved

   Members of the University and the American Association of
University Professors (AAUP) negotiating teams, along with senior vice
president David Hollowell (seated, at left) met May 24 to sign the new
two-year contract.  Present were (standing, from left) Dan Rich, dean
of urban affairs and public policy; Robert Carroll, professor of plant
and soil sciences; John Cavanaugh, chairperson of individual and
family studies; Thomas LaPenta, director of labor relations; Arthur
Halprin, professor of physics and astronomy; L. Leon Campbell, Hugh
M.Morris Research Professor of Molecular Biosciences; and James
Thornton, associate professor of economics. Seated (from left) are
