Marine tours
The University's College of Marine Studies will offer free public
tours of the Hugh R. Sharp campus in Lewes at 10:30 a.m., Fridays, during
June, July and August.
Tours consist of a 20-minute slide presentation introducing the
college's faculty and their work. This is followed by a one-hour walking
tour of Cannon and Smith laboratories.
Reservations are required. Individuals who wish to take a tour should
call the college at 645-4346, no later than noon, the preceding Thursday.
Heritage camp
The Delaware Heritage Commission will sponsor an historical summer
camp for children ages 12-14 at locations throughout the state. Camps are
scheduled for July 11-15 in New Castle County, July 18-22 in Kent County
and July 25-29 in Sussex County.
Activities will include visits to the John Dickinson Plantation, the
Old State House, Fort Delaware and Trap Pond state parks, the Nanticoke
Indian Museum, the New Castle Court House and the George Read II House.
Cost is $100, including all transportation, fees and snacks. Campers
must bring their own lunch. Registration deadline is Wednesday, June 15.

Internet fair June 8
Interested individuals are invited to attend "U-Discover! The Global
Community-Exploring the Internet," a drop-in fair featuring Internet
information and demonstrations. The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.,
Wednesday, June 8, in the Harrington Computing Site, located behind the
Perkins Student Center. No pre-registration is necessary.
Grant seminar
The Office of the Vice Provost for Research invites members of the
University community to attend "The ABCs of Grant Applications," an
introductory seminar for principal investigators, departmental research
administrators and others who need to know how to prepare proposals to
funding agencies.
The seminar will be held from 2-4 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, in the Ewing
Room of the Perkins Student Center. Registration is required. To register,

Student guards
University employees and alumni who were student security guards are
invited to contact Sgt. Bill Clough in the Department of Public Safety.
To mark the 25th anniversary of this public safety student program,
Clough is arranging a reunion for former student guards at Homecoming this
fall.

B&G seafood night
The Blue and Gold Club will offer its newest feature, seafood night,
from 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 10. The menu will include crab imperial, twin
medallions of tuna and swordfish and a seafood mixed grill. The menu will
be available either a la carte, or for a prix fix of $18.50 per person for
five courses.

Library hours
Following is a list of Morris Library hours during the end of May and
early June: Saturday, May 28, 1-5 p.m.; Sunday and Monday, May 29 and 30,
closed; Tuesday-Friday, May 31-June 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, June 4,
closed; and Sunday, June 5, 1-5 p.m.
Special Collections and Exhibition Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m.,
Monday-Friday. Call 831-BOOK for all library hours.
Lunch and learn
The Faculty and Staff Assistance program will present "Lunch and
Learn," from noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, in the Kirkwood Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
The topic will be positive parenting techniques, presented by Carla
London, M.H.S., a life skills education supervisor for the Chester County
Department of Children, Youth and Families. Registration is required no

Newark craft sale
The Newark Arts Alliance will hold a free craft show from 1-5 p.m.,
Saturday, May 21, on the lawn of the Academy Building, located on Main
Street. The show will feature craft artists selling fine art jewelry,
candles, embellished clothing, handmade stationery, beadwork and more. In
addition, there will be live music performances.

'Relay for Life'
The American Cancer Society will sponsor "Relay for Life," a 24-hour
relay against cancer, beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, June 24, and continuing
on Saturday, June 25. Teams of 8-15 people, runners and/or walkers, will
compete against other teams to raise the most money and log the most miles
around a track for 24 hours.

Gender in workplace
Beth Haslett, professor of communication, will present "The Gendered
Workplace" from noon-1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, in the Rodney Room of
the Perkins Student Center.
The presentation will focus on gender expectations and their impact on
the workplace, review the subtle ways in which sex discrimination is
communicated and foster an understanding of the role of "unconsciousness
biases" in the workplace.
