Fulbright scholars to visit
The Institute of International Education has chosen the University to
host a three-week orientation program this summer for 30 international
Fulbright scholars.
Scheduled from July 24-Aug. 18 on the Newark campus, the program will
introduce the Fulbright group to academic life and social issues in the
United States and will include use of research tools in the Morris Library,
videotaped oral presentation workshops and lectures and discussion with
faculty and professionals.
After the Delaware orientation program, the visiting scholars will go
to their permanent campus assignments at sites throughout the United
States.
The campus program will be managed by the Office of International
Programs and Special Sessions. According to Lawrence P. Donnelley,
associate provost for international programs and special sessions, the
University of Delaware was one of seven sites selected from among 18
applicants.
The other host institutions are the University of Washington in
Seattle, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania,
the University of Indiana in Bloomington, Ohio University in Athens and the
State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo.
Members of the University community who are interested in meeting or
hosting a Fulbright scholar are encouraged to contact Jeanette Miller or
Paul Olchvary at 831-2852.
