Local dancers and storytellers in play
Local dancers and storytellers will join with the pros when the Liz
Lerman Dance Exchange and storyteller Jon Spelman take to the stage for
three performances of an original work, "Safe House: Still Looking."
The performance piece, which will tell the story of the Underground
Railroad in Delaware through stories and dance, was commissioned by the
University.
It will be performed at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, May 20-21 and
again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at the Wilmington Friends Meeting House,
Fourth and West Streets, Wilmington.
Tickets-at $15 for the general public, $8 for senior citizens and
University faculty and staff and $5 for children--may be obtained by
calling the box office at 831-2204.
The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange is a modern dance company that creates
and presents performance pieces exploring the issues, ideas and emotions
that are a part of everyone's life. The equal and inseparable concerns of
artistic excellence and community involvement have defined the group's
identity.
