Tops in chemistry

     The University is second only to one in the total number of award
winners at Intercollegiate Student Chemists Conventions since 1949,
according to John Burmeister, Alumni Distinguished Professor and associate
chairperson of chemistry and biochemistry.
     In the list of 53 schools, Franklin and Marshall was first with 53
awards with the University of Delaware coming in second with 51.
     At the 1994 convention at West Chester University, Raymond Trievel,
adviser Colin Thorpe, took first place in biochemistry, and Eric Leavitt,
adviser Murray Johnston, took second place in analytical chemistry.
