Don't miss your messages! Check your UNIX account

All University students, faculty and staff are assigned e-mail
accounts on the central UNIX systems-Strauss, Brahms, Bach and Chopin.
Colleagues may be addressing e-mail to your UNIX account instead of the
account you use on another system.
To activate your UNIX account, bring your University ID to Systems
Security and Access in Room 002A in Smith Hall. Once you have activated
your UNIX account, you can access any waiting e-mail, you can forward any
future incoming mail from that account to the one you ordinarily use to
read your e-mail and you can check out some of the many Internet newsgroups
that are available.

How do you forward your UNIX e-mail to another account?
In your home (login) directory, use pico or vi to create a file called

                              ".forward"

This is a special file that tells the mail program where to send your
e-mail. It must contain only one line-the address to which you want your
mail sent. So, if you want all of your mail forwarded to your account on
MVS, your ".forward" file would contain this one line:

                     Firstname.Lastname@mvs.udel.edu

For more information about activating your UNIX account, contact
Systems Security and Access, at 831-8446.
For assistance setting up a ".forward" file or about using a UNIX
account, stop by the Consulting Center in Room 002 Smith Hall, or call the
Helpline at 831-6000.
