     co-editor-in-chief of Geoderma, an international journal in soil
     science in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
 
     Several faculty members from the Operations Research Program were
     invited by the Organization of American States to develop a conference
     on transportation infrastructural and developmental policies for
     Argentina. Presenting their views and models for the comprehensive
     planning of the Rio de la Plata region and other developing regions at
     the Aug. 9-13 conference were Joachim Elterich and Conrado Gempesaw,
     food and resource economics; Shinya Kikuchi, civil engineering; and
     Francis Tannian, urban affairs.
 
     Gonzalo R. Arce, electrical engineering, elected a senior member of
     the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the highest
     professional grade of membership.
 
     Karl W. Boer, Distinguished Professor of Physics and Solar Energy, is
     executive co-editor of Yearbook of Solar Energy, published by
     Eurosolar, Bonn.
