HOLA Group promotes Ibero-American culture

Students, faculty and staff who are from countries of America
colonized either by Spain or Portugal are part of the Ibero-American
cultures.
Included in this designation are a total of 22 countries in Central
and South America, as well as Spain, Portugal, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
Although there are some similarities, each one of these countries has its
own unique culture, and the HOLA Group is an organization that wants to
share these different customs with the University community.
HOLA simply means "hello" in English, and it represents the friendship
to be found among members of the group. HOLA's goal is not only to promote
the Ibero-American culture but also to have fun while doing it and to learn
from one another. You do not have to be a "Latino" or know Spanish to join
the group, whose motto is "Amigos Para Siempre," or "Friends for Life."
HOLA meets every Tuesday from 4:40 to 5:30 p.m. in the Williamson Room
of the Perkins Student Center. For more information about this year's
activities and programs, call Hector Cruz, president at 731-8454 or
Elizabeth Bertera or Robert Berges, co-advisers to the group, at 738-0287.
