Eugene Ferguson receives medal
Eugene S. Ferguson, professor emeritus of history who also served as
curator of technology at the Hagley Museum, April 9 received the Orthogonal
Medal at the University of North Carolina State University.
The medal was created by the graphic communications faculty at that
university to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the
advancement of graphic science. Ferguson also was the distinguished
lecturer at the event.
Author of Bibliography of the History of Technology, Ferguson has
written widely on the subject of the history of technology.
His most recent book is Engineering and the Mind's Eye, which was
favorably reviewed in The New York Times. Among his honors, Ferguson
received the Leonardo Da Vinci Medal in 1977, the highest award given by
the Society for the History of Technology.
