Honors students to perform play
Until We Notice, a new play by Nancy King, Delaware playwright and
professor in the Honors Program, will premiere in a workshop production by
students in an honors course Thursday through Saturday, May 5-7, on campus.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Bacchus Theatre of the
Perkins Student Center. An additional 2 p.m. matinee is scheduled Saturday,
May 7. Although there is no admission charge, audience members are
encouraged to make a donation that will be used to support arts activities
in the Honors Program. A discussion will follow each performance.
Until We Notice is based on a folk tale found in many cultures. The
play explores what happens when Marissa, a young, beautiful, wealthy and
beloved daughter, encounters Fate, who forces her to choose between being
happy when young and unhappy when old or being unhappy when young and happy
in old age.
Marissa's decision causes the immediate loss of all her wealth,
privilege and protection. She is thrust into a world for which she has no
preparation or experience. The play shows how she begins to discover who
she is and what she needs to make her way in the world.
For information on the play or performances, contact the University
Honors Program at 831-1195.
