UD United Way effort recognized

     Joyce Dennis, assistant director of employee services, received a
United Way Apex Award in the fund-raising category at an April 6 dinner at
the Wilmington Country Club.
     Cited for her "imagination and creativity," Dennis has co-chaired the
University's United Way campaigns for the past four years.
     This year, the University exceeded its $140,000 goal by more than
$15,000.
     Dennis won kudos for publicizing the campaign through vignettes of
University personnel who had been helped through United Way agency services
and for development of a campaign video.
     The campaign's kick-off event, using YoUDee, the Fightin' Blue Hen
mascot, cheerleaders and other entertainment, was developed to "motivate
and excite" employees.
