Luncheon program for daughters

     The Office of Women's Affairs, with support from Dining Services, will
offer a free luncheon program for University employees and girls
participating in "Take Our Daughters To Work Day" on Thursday, April 28.
     The special day is designed to show young women the variety of
opportunities open to them and to encourage them in pursuing their ideas
and dreams.
     UD employees are welcome to bring a daughter, or the daughter of a
friend or relative, to work with them for the day, pending the approval of
their immediate supervisor, Maxine Colm, vice president for employee
relations, said.
     For the lunch program will begin at noon in the Rodney Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
     The menu will include pizza, drinks and dessert. Reservations are
required and should be made by calling the Office of Women's Affairs at
831-4620, no later than Monday, April 25.
     Colm and Liane Sorenson, director of the Office of Women's Affairs,
will welcome those attending.
     The special program also will include an appearance by YoUDee, the
University of Delaware mascot, and a short panel discussion by women
employed in various jobs at the University.
     Representatives of computing, public safety, agricultural sciences,
individual and family studies, health education and secretarial work will
speak about what they do at the University and how they made their career
decisions.
     The program will conclude at 12:45 p.m., when tour guides from the
Office of Admissions will offer optional campus tours to participating
girls.
     "Take Our Daughters To Work Day" is a national program sponsored by
the Ms. Foundation.
