Measles alert
As a result of a recent outbreak of measles cases at Rutgers
University, the State Division of Public Health has issued a Measles Alert
for the state of Delaware. In issuing this alert, Public Health is
anticipating the possible spread of this disease to Delaware and requesting
that any patients with a suspect rash illness be reported to them.
Patients with a rash associated with fever, cough and cold symptoms
are strongly encouraged to seek medical attention.
In cooperation with the Division of Public Health, the Student Health
Service will offer free measles vaccinations to University students.
Students who were born after Jan. 1, 1957, and who have not received two
doses of measles vaccine after their first birthday, are at increased risk
for the disease. Students at increased risk are advised to contact Student
Health Service at 831-2226 to arrange an appointment for vaccination.
