Doug Tuttle attends D.C. event

     Douglas Tuttle, director of public safety at the University, spent a
portion of St. Patrick's Day in the Indian Treaty Room of the Old Executive
Office Building in Washington, D.C., where he attended a press briefing
featuring the premier of two new violence prevention public service
announcements featuring President Bill Clinton.
     The press briefing included remarks by Clinton, Vice President Al
Gore, Phil Geier of the Advertising Council, John Calhoun of the National
Crime Prevention Council, U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno and Alicia
Brown, a 14-year-old student who is featured in one of the announcements.
     Those attending the reception represented various member organizations
that make up the National Crime Prevention Council. Tuttle is the national
organization's vice president and the council's representative on the
International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
     After the formal reception, Tuttle was introduced to and shook hands
with Clinton.
