B & E holds 'get acquainted' reception
A "Get Acquainted" reception for minority students and faculty in the
College of Business and Economics was held Feb. 17 in Clayton Hall.
Hosted by the University chapter of the National Student Business
League and the FORTUNE 2000 program, it provided an opportunity for
minority undergraduates enrolled in business to meet informally with
faculty members.
Erinne May, a senior accounting major and president of the league, and
Kenneth Biederman, dean of the college, welcomed students to the event.
The National Student Business League assists students in developing
professional interpersonal skills and provides opportunities for students
to exercise leadership, organizational and communication skills that are
necessary in the corporate world.
The league works in partnership with the FORTUNE 2000 program,
directed by Terry Whittaker, assistant dean.
The Fortune 2000 program's goals are to increase the number of
academically prepared minority students who major in business and economics
at the University, to increase the number of minority business students who
excel academically and to increase the number of minority business
graduates who pursue graduate business studies and/or obtain managerial and
leadership positions in industry.
