SERVICE & AWARDS
Several members of the Department of English have been awarded
national fellowships or grants. Leo Lemay, Winterthur Professor of
English, won a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship for
1994-95. Jeannie Walker has received a National Endowment for the Arts
grant and a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts grant for 1994. Jerry
Beasley received a National Endowment for the Humanities Editing Award
for his Tobias Smollet edition, and Ann Ardis and Charles Robinson
both were awarded summer National Endowment for the Humanities
fellowships.
Donald E. Conlon, business administration, named to the editorial
board of the Journal of Management.
Fleda Jackson, English, was awarded the Verna Emery Poetry Award from
Purdue University for her book, Do Not Peel the Birches.
Jay Halio, English, was presented a Folger Library Fellowship for
spring 1994.
Ed Guerrero, English, was awarded a Rockefeller Fellowship at the
University of Pennsylvania for 1993-94.
Barbara Sheer, nursing, was a second runner-up in the post secondary
category, Superstars in Education Award, from the Delaware State
Chamber of Commerce.
