Port program offers diplomas

     More than 100 students from 12 countries-including Malaysia, China,
Indonesia, Kuwait, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Poland, as well as Singapore
have attended five weeks of instruction, capped by five examinations, to
earn their diplomas in the College of Marine Studies' program in shipping
and port management conducted for the three years in collaboration with the
Port of Singapore Authority.
     Gerard J. Mangone, University Research Professor of International and
Maritime Law, is director of the program.
     The courses cover technological developments of ports, the business of
shipping, operation, management finances of ports and maritime law.
