Newark staffers provide winter storm assistance
When winter storms damaged the grounds of the Agricultural Research
and Education Center in Georgetown, director Mark Isaacs sent an SOS to
Newark campus.
Every tree was damaged around the Georgetown office and classroom
complex, an area known as the Grove also was damaged.
The request for help was relayed to Roger Bowman, grounds supervisor,
and a crew of three was sent down to help out.
Two arborists, Mike Eggert and John Heldorfer, and arborist helper,
John Pierce, spent three days working at the Georgetown agricultural center
and also at the Virden Center in Lewes, where they were housed.
The crew will return to southern Delaware later this spring to help
the Georgetown staff finish repair work, Bowman said.
