Sitting pretty at Chair Fair

Approximately 50 "chairpersons" from across the campus accepted an
invitation to the Chair Fair, hosted by Purchasing, to test sit 13
different office chairs that were being considered for general University
use.
Chairs at the sit-in were rated by employees on a scale of 1-5 for
comfort, appearance and functionality. Like Goldilocks, the sitting
committee had opinions about hardness, softness and just-rightness. Other
factors were whether chairs were worker-friendly and easily adjustable.
Some chairs were sitting pretty with employees, while others fared less
well.
According to Tory Windley, director of purchasing, the two
manufacturers whose chairs won the sit-down were Steelcase and Hayworth,
both of which have provided seating for the University for many years.
