SERVICE & AWARDS

     Mary Martin, graduate studies, received the best admission
     presentation award for "SIS Plus for Graduate Admissions" at 1993
     Student Information Systems Users conference. The award was announced
     at the 1994 meeting held Feb. 18 in Anaheim.

     Gordon J. DiRenzo, sociology and criminal justice, reelected secretary
     of the state Board of Examiners of Psychologists, Division of
     Professional Regulation.

     Three members of the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences served in
     official capacities at joint North East-Potomac Division meeting of
     American Phytopathological Society, Feb. 9-11, Carlisle, Pa.: Thomas
     A. Evans, as president of the Potomac Division, presided over the
     joint conference; Robert B. Carroll as councilor of the Potomac
     Division presented the annual report; and Dennis A. Schaff served as
     judge for the graduate student paper competition.

     James L. Morrison, textiles, design and consumer economics, was
     elected chairperson of Home Economics Research Group, elected to the
     editoral publication review board and elected to board of directors of
     Association for the Development of Computer-based Instructional
     System.
