Senior mechanical engineering students Jason Paul Steele, Kurt Ian
Kuhn, Jeffrey Russell Blair and Matthew O. Schroeder received a $500 Bronze
Award in the undergraduate division of the James F. Lincoln Arc Welding
Foundation's 1993 pre-professional awards program.
The University students' entry, describing an "Optic Nerve

adviser for the project was Robert Allen, assistant professor of mechanical
engineering.
In recognition of the Bronze Award, the University also received a
$250 grant to be used to further educational objectives.
The national program, which recognizes excellence in college-level
engineering research and design, awarded a total of $15,750 to
undergraduate and graduate students across the country.
