Personal Safety And Self Defense: Learn the tactics behind personal safety
and how to apply them to avoid trouble as well as to respond if trouble
occurs. Classes involve intensive drilling in techniques of self defense
and actual application of what is learned. (Particants 8 min/15 max)

Meditation: A science that has existed for over a thousand years, mediation
is used to steady the mind and relax the body. This course will utilize
breathing and relaxation techniques to introduce the student to classical

90-Minute Combo: Get your cardiovascular and strengthening exercises done
in just two workouts per week. The first 45 minutes will incorporate either
step or traditional aerobics. The rest of the class will utilize various
calisthenics to tone upper body, legs and abdominals. (8 min/20 max)

Circuit Weight Training: Utilize various pieces of resistance equipment in
a circuit format for an intense circuit workout led by a creatively,
maddening instructor. Program is held as a class format and will focus on
developing muscular endurance and cardiovascular fitness. An ideal way to
alleviate boredom and add variety to a strength training program. (8 min/15

The Beginning Exerciser: Designed for individuals with little or no
background in exercise. Classes held in the semi-private Employee Fitness
Center (EFC) will be conducted by a qualified instructor who will provide a
personalized approach to health and wellness. Individual attention will be
given on how to properly use the various types of exercise machines.
Educational information also will be provided on various aspects of
exercise and nutrition. This class is available to employees only. (8

Beginning Weight Training: For those who have wanted to begin lifting
weights but didn't know where to start. Over 12 sessions this class will
introduce the basic concepts of weight training for individuals with
limited experience. Learn how to design a personal program based on
recommendations by the American College of Sports Medicine. (8 min/15 max)

Machine Madness: Utilize various pieces of cardiovascular equipment in a
circuit format for an intense circuit workout led by a creatively,

Guts and Butts: Intensive calisthenics workout designed to strengthen and
firm those trouble spots. Exercises emphasize the abdominals, hips and

results when combined with an effective cardiovascular program.

Yoga: Learn relaxation methods for the reduction of stress while increasing
muscular flexibility. Postures are focused upon improving strength and

Aquasize: A great low impact, cardiovascular workout. Class consists of a
warm-up and stretch, followed by an aerobic and isolated body toning
segment and finishes with a cool-down stretch. Exercises can be
incorporated into the routines from both the shallow and deep ends of the
pool. Individuals uncomfortable out of their depth can, therefore, exercise
at the level where they are most comfortable. (8 min/25 max)

Deep Water Workout: Low impact cardiovascular demanding workout performed
in the diving well. Treading varieties, jogging, stroking, games and
circuits in the deep water are the emphasis of this workout with special
toning segments. A challenging water workout. Must be confident in deep
water.

Aerobic Dance: A combination of dance movements, running, walking and
calisthenics choreographed to music. Class members can choose to work at
their own pace through either low or high impact variations. Each class
reflects the individual style of the instructor. Workout is designed to
train the cardiovascular system and improve body composition, as well as
strengthen the upper and lower body and the abdominals. (8 min/30 max)

Cardiostep: Step into shape with this low-impact cardiovascular workout set
to music. Cardiostep is easy on the knees and ankles and can burn calories
equal to running a seven-minute mile. Targeting the gluteals, this workout
resculpts the major muscles of the lower body. Intensive abdominal work
finishes the hour. This class is designed to get more challenging as the
session progresses. (8 min/25 max)

YoUDee "Struts for March of Dimes" Training Walks Be part of the UD team
that will be "Struttin' for March of Dimes" on Sunday, April 24.
Participate in Wednesday training walks to get ready for WalkAmerica!
Training walks are free to all University students and employees planning
to participate in the 1994 WalkAmerica for March of Dimes.
     * WalkAmerica is a 1- 3- 6- or 9-mile walk to raise money for the
March of Dimes. Raise $25 in pledges for a super-cool t-shirt and a chance
to win the grand prize. Each additional $10 raised will give participants
another chance to win the grand prize. Cards will be available at the
training walks and various campus locations. For additional information

     * Training walks are every Wednesday from 12:10-1 pm, Feb. 16 through
April 20. Meet on the "South Mall," in front of the Morris Library, at
12:10 p.m. Attend one or all of the Wednesday walks. For more information

     Cost: Commitment to participate in WalkAmerica and $25 in pledges to
March of Dimes.

25th Anniversary 5K Run/Walk for Women's Athletics: This event will help
celebrate 25 years of women's athletics at the University. Open to men and
women of all ages. Saturday April 23, 9 a.m. Race starts at Delaware Field
House and winds through the Athletic Complex and South Campus. Cost: Early
students $6, others $8; late students $8, others $10. Contact Joanne

Third Annual UDip, Clip and Rip Sprint Triathlon: Enter individually or as
part of a three-person team. Saturday, May 14, 8:30 a.m. The Dip, Clip and
Rip is a 500-yard swim at the CSB pool, a 14-mile bike through western
Newark and nearby Maryland and a three-mile run near the Laird Campus.
Cost: Students $15 per individual, $12 per team member; others $30 per
individual, $20 per team member. Contact Maryann Rapposelli, at 831-6712,

Employee Fitness Center (EFC) is open only to all employees of the
University and their spouses. Student Fitness Center(SFC) is open to all
full-time University students. The centers contain various pieces of
aerobic and resistance equipment. To use the facilities, individuals must
have a medical history on file and complete an orientation. Both facilities
are staffed by trained professionals who offer orientations to the
facility, personal consultations, development of fitness programs and
